Alan Jackson at CMA Music Festival: ‘That’s some country music right there, y’all.’

A singer with a lot to say, Alan Jackson is known for his heartfelt and true-to-home country songs.

"I love them old heartache songs," Jackson told the crowd at LP Field Sunday, as he played during CMA Music Festival's closing night concert. "I always loved writing 'em and singing 'em."

He didn't hold a pen for the composition of the lead single on his new album, Thirty Miles West, which hit stores earlier this month. But he does, as he said, "have some blood in it."
Sunday he brought the co-writer of "So You Don't Have to Love Me Anymore" - his nephew Adam Wright - on stage to play the guitar while he sang the single.

"That's some country music right there, y'all," he said.

Jackson is one of only a handful of artists with two decades of hit-making experience and continued chart-topping appearances. Sunday, the songwriter showed he can still inspire an audience to sing. With classics like “Chattahoochee,” “Little Bitty,” “Drive” and “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” he had thousands of back-up vocalists at the ready.
