John Fogerty's 'Everyone' courts country hospitality

LOS ANGELES — John Fogerty has been rockin' all over the world for 45 years. Yet it should surprise no one that the guitar-slinging founder of iconic rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival is swapping verses and riffs with Alan Jackson and Keith Urban on Wrote a Song for Everyone, out Tuesday.

It's not the first time Fogerty has channeled his inner twang. He kicked off his solo career with 1973's country covers set The Blue Ridge Rangers, followed by a 2009 sequel.

On Everyone, a celebration of his songbook, five of 12 Fogerty compositions are recut with country acts he admires.

"I'm a huge fan of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens and that traditional sound of country's golden era," Fogerty says. "They stand alongside Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers, and I feel the same way about Alan Jackson.
